Device Diagnostics - POS Steward - P2 Pro

Find POS Steward on the Tools folder on the device desktop to run diagnostic tests on the following hardware items:

  1. Device information display

  2. Network status connectivity and status

  3. Internet connectivity

  4. Printer functionality and print head aging tests (on devices with a built-in printer)

  5. Display screen functionality, color saturation, and problem pixel identification

  6. Touch screen functionality, sensitivity, and multi-touch capability

  7. Speaker

  8. EMV Reader/NFC reader/MSR

  9. Bluetooth

  10. Button Functionality

  11. Camera and Flash

Follow the prompts on the screen to start and complete the Device Test.

 

For the first touch screen test, drag your finger across the empty blocks to fill them in as pictured below. When all are filled in the test will automatically proceed.

For the second touch screen test, you are prompted to touch the screen with multiple fingers. Each successful touch will display a circle on screen. When successfully completed, the test will automatically proceed.

When the screen changes to a solid color, tap the screen to rotate through the available color tests. Remember to check for bad pixels while reviewing each screen.

Further tests will display images from the camera to validate its functionality, the camera with the flash on to validate the flash functionality, and button activity confirmations.

 

Next, POS Steward will prompt you to test the payment reader interfaces as noted below.

 

NFC / Tap:

Tap a contactless payment enabled card to the lid of the device to confirm the NFC reader is working properly. A success will generate an audible beep.

EMV Chip / ICC Reader:

Insert an EMV Chip card to the right-side of the device to confirm the chip reader is working properly. A success will generate an audible beep.

Magnetic Stripe Reader (MSR):

Swipe a credit card on the device in the slot between the top of the screen and printer to confirm the MSR is working properly. A success will generate an audible beep.

When complete, a successful test will result in the following results screen with green checks next to each result. Failures will be represented by a red 'X'.
